The movie, “Field of Dreams” is one of my favorites. It tells the story of an ordinary man who hears a voice say, “if you build it he will come.” Thus Ray Kinsella starts on a journey of faith that leads him to places he never imagined and a healing he never thought he could experience.
Stretched to the limit
Faith, the opposite of unbelief, tests our trust and resolve in God to the utmost. It is the fiery furnace through which our walk with God is refined. We become a little bit more like the Christ every time we say “nevertheless, not my will but thy will be done.”
Some people stop just when they are about to achieve their dreams and all their efforts, planning, and hopes turn to dust. It is like traveling nine-tenths of the way across a desert, deciding you can’t make it, then turning back to the way you came.
The day before deliverance
Did you know that the day before Israel came to the River Jordan a second time that they were still in the wilderness? Some had been in the wilderness for 39 years and 364 days! What a terrible shame it would have been for someone to give up just before they reached their destination. For them, one more day made all the difference in the world.
I wish to encourage you today to go the distance. You may be tried, you may be discouraged, and you may even think there is no hope.
However, God says,
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
Matthew 24:13
Some literally wrestle defeat from the jaws of victory through unbelief coupled with discouragement. I urge you not to let yourself quit because… when you feel the most discouraged that is often times when God is about to do a miracle. Your end is God’s beginning. Just like in the movie “Field of Dreams” you need to “go the distance”. Complete the task you have been given, so that your blessing may come to pass. Have faith, my friend, what you seek is so close, it is even at your door.
