God says,

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

Genesis 1:26,27

Created to be God’s wife

Man (collectively spoken of as the male and female of God’s creation) is God’s wife.  As Eve was created from Adam to be His wife, so man was created from God to be His wife.  This is why we were created in God’s image and likeness, we are the female version of our Lord.  We are always referred to as a “she” or “her” in scripture.

God created us so that He could bring forth after His kind.  We accomplish this through mating with each other and God during intercourse.  While animals mate and bring forth mere animals, we mate with God and each other bringing forth eternal souls and spirits.  When animals die they cease to exist, but humans do not die and never cease to exist.

Lucifer Temps God’s Future Wife

Fallen Lucifer, when he realized that God was about to create a wife, sinned.  Pride lead to jealousy which lead to murder.  Essentially, through tempting Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit, Satan wanted to kill God’s wife through forcing Him to kill Adam and Eve.  God said,

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Genesis 2:17

When Adam ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil the Holy Spirit left him.  The Spirit, like as a tongue of fire, lifted off Adam’s head and with a mighty rushing wind, God left His temple.

As God left, most of most of what made Adam amazing left too.  Adam could no longer access unlimited knowledge and wisdom from his Lord.  From that day the spiritual realm closed and the first man and women no longer walked in the heavenlies.  Before, when Adam lacked understanding he simply asked for wisdom from God, now all they had left was their natural minds.

God decrees a divorce

Adam and Eve felt ashamed and made aprons of fig leaves.  Moreover, Adam and his wife feared God and hid themselves among the trees.  Consequently, God divorced them and drove them both from the Garden of Eden. The banishment of Adam and Eve is the first divorce.

Scriptures describe God as married to the backslider.  Though we sinned, God made a way for us to reconcile with Him through Jesus ChristReconciliation to our estranged husband is what the history of mankind is all about.  This is why the Apostle John speaks of us as the Bride of Christ.  This is also why the infilling of the Holy Spirit is such a big event and so crucial to our restoration in Him.  Our Divine Husband unites with us once again through filling us with His Holy Spirit.

God makes a way

People say you are “Reconciled” when divorce is avoided.  That is why God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself.  The divorce in the Garden of Eden was to avoid killing us because we  sinned.  Had we stayed in the garden, as sinners living forever, death would eventually have been our lot.  Even though God slew the first sacrifice and clothed us with skins, still He could not tolerate imperfection in His perfect world.  That is why He put us away. However, even during our divorce from God, He planned to reconcile with us once His son defeated Satan.  God said,

“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

Genesis 3:15

God always planned to reconcile with man

This is the first prophecy of the coming Christ.  God foresaw that Jesus would die for the sins of mankind and that the veil, which sin had caused, would be rent.  It has always been the design of our Heavenly Husband to “take us back” and live happily ever after with Him.

We lost intimacy with God through sin.  We will regain intimacy with God through walking in the Spirit.  Intimacy characterizes the spiritual fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles because this feast completes the reconciliation of God and man.  It is the culmination of the church age and ends with the marriage feast of the lamb and directly after that, holy consummation with God Himself.

Since that fateful day in Eden, God sealed with seven seals, the fate of this world in a small scroll.  Our Creator is going to destroy this creation.  However, because God desires to reconcile with His bride, He postpones that judgement until such time as Jesus could come and die for our sins.  Thus God provides a way for His wife to come back home and live with Him forever.  After the Bride of Christ resurrects or is translated, God rolls up this creation like a scroll and it is no more.  This is why Christ says,

“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:”

Matthew 6:20

Mankind’s happily ever after

In conclusion, God desires reconciliation between Himself and mankind.  In His great mercy, God so loves us that  He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.   God calls us to the marriage supper of the lamb for this reason.  We are the wife of the Almighty and soon we will take our place beside Him as His queen forever.
