second feast

The Feast of Pentecost is the second major celebration commanded by God for the children of Israel to keep.  It is a festival of the “first fruits of harvest”. The spiritual fulfillment of this feast in the church age, happened on the day of Pentecost.

It is important to understand the spiritual fulfillment of the feast of Pentecost. Pentecost, the celebration of first fruits, was a recognition of the first of the harvest in ancient Israel. Likewise, in the Gentile Church, the spiritual fulfillment of this feast is the infilling of the Holy Spirit. God evidences this infilling by speaking in other tongues.

Many forgot about God’s gift

Whereas the spiritual fulfillment of the fist feast was salvation, the spiritual fulfillment of the second celebration is Pentecost. Unfortunately, for many centuries, people lost this gift. However, in 1901 God poured out his Spirit again, first in Topeka Kansas and then at Azusa Street in California.

When we understand the second feast, we look forward to the final feast

The reason it is important to understand the spiritual fulfillment of the first two celebrations of Israel is that there is a third and final observance that God wishes to fulfill in our day and age. This third spiritual fulfillment is the Feast of Tabernacles. In ancient Israel, this celebration was the festival of in-gathering of the last of the harvest. In the church age, the spiritual fulfillment of this celebration will be “oneness” with good and the “gift” of his Divine Love shed abroad in our hearts.
