Jesus says,

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

John 14:16,17

Take your staff, my son

One day I felt to go to visit a prophet in a certain city.  At that time I owned a shepherd’s staff and God told me to take it with me.  Knocking on his door, the prophet said, “This must be serious, you have brought your staff.”

I went in and sat down and we started to chit-chat about various things.  To be honest, I did not know exactly why I was there.  After his wife sat next to him, I fixed my gaze on her and said, “You need the body of Christ!”  God in us is the hope of glory, and at that point, I felt Him speak through me.  I don’t remember much of what He said, but I do remember that when I finished, He repeated once again, “You need the body of Christ!”

Yes, I do need the Body of Christ

Then, it was over.  I stood up, said goodbye and left.  In my car, driving home, I thought to myself, “Wow, that was weird.”  Later that night I received a call from the prophet’s wife and she was crying.  “Yes,” she said, “I do need the body of Christ.”  Between sobs she continued, “My husband has been beating me and I was too afraid and embarrassed to reach out to anyone.  You were exactly right, I do need the body of Christ.” After that, the prophet repented and his wife went to live with a friend while they received marriage counseling.

God in us

God in us is what we have to offer others.  Our Lord dwells within us and will speak through us if we allow Him to.  We all carry a treasure within our earthen vessels to bless others with.  Prophets are people too and like all of us, they make mistakes.  I am glad God was able to speak to His wife when she needed to hear God.  My Father was able to bring His prophet to repentance so that he could receive help too.  The next time God wants to speak through you, simply let Him. Even if you don’t know why you never know what good may come of it.
