God’s Boy Scout
I feel, sometimes, like a boy scout rubbing two sticks together in order to produce enough friction to start a fire. I have been reading my manual (the bible) over and over. I have carefully gathered my tinder, notched my piece of wood, piled my progressively bigger sticks together and stacked them in the shape of a tepee, and put up my wind break. Everything is set in expectation.
So I am pulling my little make shift string bow back and forth which is turning my awl until little whiffs of smoke start to curl up from where the wooden stick turns furiously in the notch.
Back and forth, back and forth, faster and faster I go. More smoke then little embers. Eventually, God willing, I am going start a fire.
I have already started one fire deep in the bush in Africa. It is funny to me that God would allow people in the middle of nowhere to know the will of His Holy Spirit in such a powerful way while people in the “civilized” countries still feed on centuries old manna. I guess when you don’t know a lot it is easy to accept God for who He really is.
It is written,
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;”
I Corrinthians 1:27
What I want to do is talk to those who read my writings and share a few thoughts I am thinking.
To begin with, what are we really doing for God? Most of us have a real desire to know God and to serve Him or else we would not be here. However, in the big scheme of things what are our efforts producing? I am not disparaging anyone or anything but rather I am inviting you to elevate our perspective to a higher vantage point. Come up here with me and take a look for a second…I promise you it will be worth it.
Personally, I am not just starting a fire to keep myself warm (although I like to be warm) I am starting a fire to take part in nothing less than the third and final reformation in this gentile church age. I am nailing my version of 99 thesis to the churches door through the internet and challenging the religious “powers that be” to change. I have had enough of living in the desert while I know, from experience, that there is a land flowing with milk and honey just over the horizon.
David Ogilvy, an advertising genius, once said “compete with the immortals.” Meaning, if you are going to do something don’t shoot for “better” but aim for something “truly great.” Likewise, we all have one life to live and I think if we are going to make our lives matter why not aim for something truly great and meaningful in the kingdom of God too?
Some say the definition of insanity is “doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.” I left off doing the same old things a long time ago simply because was tired of getting no where. My friends, I believe it is time to compete with the immortals, the fathers of our faith, the men and women of biblical renown, and strive to do mighty exploits like they did so that we can take our own places next to them in halls of faith described in the book of Hebrews chapter 11.
So I ask you, “are you satisfied with what you are doing in Christ or is he calling you to a higher place in Him? Do you really want to climb out of the valley and stand on the mountain top with God? Are you truly ready and willing to sell all to gain Christ?” If you are and if you are willing to pledge allegiance to the Lamb then help me start this fire. Help me rub these sticks together until we start such a flame of the Spirit that it keeps the whole world warm. Let’s start a third reformation that will unleash the body of Christ upon the world in such a seismic wave of God’s Spirit that it spreads over the face of the whole Earth like an unstoppable tsunami of Divine Love, healing billions of souls who cry out in the night for deliverance. Why should we, the very children of God, allow the Devil to desecrate our home one minute longer! It is time to stand up and plant our feet firmly on this Earth that our Father gave us and shout “NO FURTHER!” Let us fight the onset of demonic night by letting the glory of God shine through us even brighter. It is time to answer God’s call with one voice, “here am I Lord, send me!”
How can I apply this teaching to my life?
You have read the vision. You have heard His call in your heart today. Do something about it. Take your position in the army of God. I am fighting a battle here and I could used some brave men and women to help me win it. If you have talents that God has entrusted you with why not put them to use in His service? On the upper right hand corner there are ways you can help us spread the world about God’s divine love. Remember, recruit, we do the impossible because we see the invisible. Improvise, adapt, overcome!
Hoorah! I’ll talk to you later soldier!
