Resting In Him

We all, from time to time, need to stop and rest, say nothing and digest. Not walking is not necessarily a bad thing.  It is just the way it is.  I am reminded here of a vision I had of a typical stairways to heaven.  Periodically going up these stairs, there were doors.  These doors were closed, so I had to stop at these doors and rest.  It seemed that after resting, the door would then open and you could carry on walking up these heavenly stairs.  In my vision I repeated this process until reaching the top.

Walking in freedom, in the knowledge there is no condemnation for those in Christ, is the best way foward.  I am in Christ as He is in me … it just the way it is.   Greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world.

Jesus does it all

Instead of posting a lot of different Scripture, which may just confuse people, I thought I would use a chapter out of God’s ‘judicial’ book.  It gives an example where we have been adjudicated and set free … BECAUSE of Jesus.

Pual says,

“So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.  Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.  I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.  And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.  As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.  For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.  For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing.  Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.  For in my inner being I delight in God’s law;  but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.  What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?  Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!…”

Romans 7:4-25

Resting in Jesus is just the way it is

Resting in Christ is just the way it is.  Resting is quite simple, not complicated.  Not a huge mystery.  Jesus Christ  is your deliverer and your liberator.  The son of God sets you free to walk with Him, in  freedom.  Just take hold of His hand reaching out to you.

Heaven is in your heart now, not just for when it has stopped beating when we die.  God’s rest is for you now.

“Experiencing God, His Spirit and His Divine Love is just a part of our life with Him.  It is not an unreachable aspect, but something we can all do.  It is a natural thing.”

Saying something is just as it is, or just the way it is, is NOT saying that something has no depth.

It can take someone a long time to accept and embrace Scripture, or just a piece of Scripture as … just the way it is, before the depth can really begin.

James says,

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

James 1:22

Then we have the depth.  You cannot do what the Lord says to do today, without relationship and Holy Spirit revelation … otherwise without the Holy Spirit how do you know that you are going deeper and deeper with the Lord? How do you know you are even listening to the voice of Truth/God? How does your spirit react to things of God?

Luke 24

32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

There are different levels of revelation with Scripture.  You know yourself, you can read Scripture you have read a thousand times before, then bam it reveals something else, something deeper about God.  This does not negate previous belief, depth or revelation, not at all.  It does not abolish it, but builds on it.

Jesus did not come to abolish things but fulfil them.  I like the word fulfil it is like two words pieced together to do with filling.  Ful…cannot get no more in, fil, can be putting more in, or the action of filling up.  So fulfil is both completed and still filling.  Scripture is complete yet has depth which you discover in your life, walking with God through revelation.

There is equality between ‘just the way it is’ and ‘depth’, they go hand in hand together, they do not stand alone.

I look at it from the point of view of … I have faith in God, I have faith He directs my paths through submission to Him.   A part of this is in a way, stepping out in faith that His Word is Truth, which in itself you will find takes you ‘deeper’ into Him and the Scripture with that.

See, when I write, it is from my own understanding from being led by the Holy Spirit instead of the institutional church.  The institutional church has become so bothered about its leaders and how its leaders look, the pride before the fall, that they have rejected the actual role of what the church should be, as set out in the Bible.

The church leaders (in general) want to lead people who are happy to keep quiet and be told what to do.  Like a classroom quieting the ones that question at whatever cost to the one questioning.  It is usually a sure sign for me when people get agitated by someone asking questions, as to what takes precedent in the leaders heart.

Should be encouraging inquisitive minds to walk in a deeper relationship with God, experiencing His very real Divine Love in their lives on a daily, hour by hour basis, not just a weekly meet up.   Rather than promoting and enlisting mirror images of themselves, or the institutions interpretation of what the church should be selling.

The very institutions which hold onto the same thing without further or deeper revelation is another flagging warning of, are they ‘today‘ walking, talking and preaching – walking in the Spirit.

Another problem I see is that the majority of churches, actually do hold a lot of truth within them, some even promoting spiritual habits, but spiritual habits they deem fit, in a set way, rather than an exploratory, open your heart to God’s Divine Love and Spirit kind of way.  They sell half truths.  Half truths are not from God especially so when taught in such a way.  What is happening is man abusing and manipulating the whole of God’s truth to suit man’s needs instead of God’s directing for man’s needs.

I use the words in general and majority, because albeit I myself reject institutional churches which don’t follow how Jesus set the church out to be, using the very real, very active, gifts of the Holy Spirit … I do not believe that everyone within the institutional churches are lost and not a part of the real church of God, which holds no title above the doorway.

Conviction of sin is to come from God via the Holy Spirit, then man does not feel condemned, but loved through it.  When conviction of sin comes from man, then man feels condemned.

Do you really think that God wants repentant hearts because they are fearful from man’s words?

I trust my spirit and heart far more than any man on this planet, and I know when something is wrong because God lets me know.

It is quite simple, He gave us the tools, the weapons, we should just learn to use them or recognise them and mostly quieten, be still and listen to God’s leading.  Always have your faith, hope and love in God and God’s leading over any man, man is the fallible one not God.

Even Scripture can be ‘presented’ in a way to deceive and way lay people.

I know my tools and weapons, I know where they originate from, I know how they work and how God uses them.

You cannot preach or teach any level of Scripture without discernment or awareness of your audience, lest you cause someone to stumble.

My faith or walk is generally how I speak rather than continuous Scripture quoting, albeit I do put in Scripture.  If I do not show how God has helped me and still helps me, through my troubles, how can others who are struggling, able to relate to what I am saying?

I am just glad I look to God to do the convicting and proving and not man. Luke 24:32
I do not have to wade through pride and arrogance to get to any ounce of truth.   It is just simple truth without man’s seas of emotions…it is ‘just the way it is’.
God has only ever convicted me of something said through someone else, when what they have said has been in and through Love.

This is the difference from being pulled out of the black, oily, tarry sea of souls and their emotions/baggage, by Jesus’s hand, rather than a person’s hand, even if that person is the closest to you in this life.  Jesus can use other hands, but it is Jesus in the driving seat, or taking the helm.  Jesus takes me out of the pit and sits me on the Rock.

The Bible tells me if you have not Love then you have nothing.
You can be the best theologian in the world, without Love it is worthless.

1 Corinthians 13

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails.

So to end, the best practice would be, not to misuse any gifting given by God for our own gain or pedestalling.   Submit to God in all your ways and He will make straight your path, Amen.

If we all learn to be led by God’s Spirit, we will have unity, because God is NOT divided.
