Elaine BellocI believe that what we experience in our current existence often times echoes a greater and more real existence, which is the spiritual realm.  That is, events and circumstances that reveal themselves in this world are but reflections of Heaven.  For instance, the temples of the Israelites starting with the tabernacle in the wilderness, to the temple of Solomon, and finally to the future temple of Ezekiel are but reflections of the true heavenly temple shown in Revelation 11:19,

“And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.”

All the earthly temples were only approximations of the real one in heaven.

There is war in Heaven and this conflict between God and His angels and Satan and his demons reveals itself in earthly wars. As it is written in Revelation 12:7,8,

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven”

The war that currently rages in heaven manifests or reveals itself in the wars that have been fought, are being fought, and will be fought here on earth. The struggle is for the eternal souls of men.

Criminals who do terrible things to innocent victims are motivated by demons who posses and control them.  Devils are waging war upon mankind through these agents of Satan that yield their minds and bodies as they carry out the will of evil spirits.  Different types of media, depicting graphic scenes of violence, are another way in which demons reveal what is in their mind to do to the helpless.  Remember, the people that make these graphically violent visual programs have to actually sit down and imagine what will be more shocking and evil to their viewing audience than last week.  Where do you think they get the inspiration to create such utterly evil scenarios? Yes, people are clever, but those at the pinnacle of their craft are anointed and spirit lead by dark forces that channel through them.

Now we come to the topic of this essay “The Chief Musician”.  It is written in Ezekiel 28:11-13,

“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.”

Although the prophet Ezekiel was speaking about the King of Tyrus we see that his words go well beyond describing a mere man when he declares, “Thou has been in Eden…” In fact, Ezekiel begins to talk about Lucifer, son of the morning, and describes his perfect beauty and pride.

In Ezekiel 28:7 we read,

“Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.”

And again in Isaiah 14:12-15,

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit”

Many prophecies and revelations do have their basis in the real world and a first application to real people and events such as the king of Tyre and the king of Babylon.  Yet, because these kings and their kingdoms are but reflections of the power that is actually behind them, i.e. Satan, what is said about them is also true about Lucifer. Their dominions here on earth are but reflections of the demonic principalities and powers in heavenly places that control and empower them.

I happened upon a televised concert of a rock and roll legend the other day.  I saw one person, surrounded by a golden stage, bathed in fantastical light effects with tens of thousands of people cheering and screaming as he played.  I thought to myself, I am seeing an echo of what is left of the chief musician of God.  You see Lucifer still loves to be the center of attention and receive worship from those who marvel at his beauty and skill with music.  The spirit behind such music is none other than the “son of the morning” himself and it is he who energizes those whom we call “Rock Legends” and grants them their inspiration.  Possessing them when they perform it is Lucifer who receives worship through them by adoring masses of people who are moved by his prowess in music. Here are the lyrics from “I Write The Songs”. the words and Music are by Bruce Johnston and sung by Barry Manilow.

Verse 1

“I’ve been alive forever, and I wrote the very first song
I put the words and the melodies together
I am music and I write the songs

CHORUS

I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

Verse 2

My home lies deep within you
And I’ve got my own place in your soul
Now, when I look out through your eyes
I’m young again, even though I’m very old

Chorus

I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

Bridge

Oh my music makes you dance
And gives you spirit to take a chance
And I wrote some rock ‘n’ roll so you can move
Music fills your heart
Well, that’s a real fine place to start
It’s from me it’s for you
It’s from you, it’s for me
It’s a worldwide symphony

Chorus

I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

Chorus

I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs

Tab

I am Music  and I write the songs”

If you substitute “Lucifer” for the word “Music” in the last line of the song then you have the complete picture.

“I am Lucifer and I write the songs”

(The word music was even capitalized in the lyrics denoting person, place, or thing.)

Unfortunately, service to Satan always comes with a price. This is why we find such debauchery in the music business that deals with rock and roll, rap, heavy metal etc. Satan himself and his demons posses and inspire these people who give themselves over fully to his demonic realm. The sex, drugs, and violence that is so often associated with these forms of music are just demons being demons through unwitting humans.

Satan is very evident in many other areas of our world if we know what to look for and how to interpret the signs. Take for example the fashion industry.  Outward appearance is front and center in this multi-billion dollar business.  Everything is sacrificed to attain perfection in appearance…even their very souls.  Does not this sound a bit like what Ezekiel said in verse 28:12,

“Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.”

Perfection in beauty is another manifestation of Lucifer and who he was in the kingdom of heaven before he fell.  God goes on to say in verse 17,

“Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.”

It was beauty leading to pride that ultimately caused Lucifer to be corrupted and the fashion industry reflects this. The recent movie, “The Devil Wears Prada” is a morality tale that demonstrates Satan’s hold in this area.  In this realm models are worshiped for their looks regardless of their character.  It does not matter what a super model does so long as she is pretty. Sadly, the most beautiful women in the world forsake their natural calling to be mothers in exchange for being sexual objects of countless men who neither care for them nor want anything more than sexual gratification from them.

Beautiful women act out in these ways not just for financial reward but also because they love to be worshiped. They are addicted to the power their beauty gives them. It is their vanity that drives them to forsake their natural use and become lesbians so that they can remain beautiful and not suffer the effects of child birth. In a more crude form this is the fundamental dynamic present in all “sex for sale” venues such as prostitution and strip clubs etc.  Worship of beauty, lust, and love of money are the desires that drive the fashion industry and the root of these evils are to be found in the heart Lucifer himself.

Women have a particularly difficult time in our western society when they grow older.  Models who have tasted of the worship of men have their self-esteem and identity wrapped up in being desirable.  When their beauty naturally begins to fade they feel worthless and try to hold on to their youth as long as possible. They begin to become overtly sexual in order to receive the kind of attention that they used to receive as a matter of course when they were younger. Certainly, men will respond to such crude displays but it degrades the woman to do so because they act out in ways that are unbecoming and unholy.

This type of behavior is not limited to unsaved people.  We live in a culture permeated with such influences and Christian women are not immune.  Just as much as the unsaved, Christian women have learned that beauty is power in our society.  Some use this power unwisely and as it fades they try to hold on to it as long as possible.  Instead of developing the inner beauty of proverbs chapter 31 as they age, some continue to focus on outward appearance. Truly, mid life crisis is not just for men anymore.

The spirit of the Harlot church has infiltrated our sanctuaries to a much greater degree than we imagine and this spirit seeks to dominate the men of our generation through a spirit of adultery and fornication. Our dress reflects what is in our hearts and the increasingly provocative attire of women simply demonstrates that a spirit of seduction is gaining a foothold in our churches. Sex, within the bounds of marriage, is a wonderful blessing and should be fully enjoyed.  Sexual attraction while dating is a natural and beautiful thing also.  But provocative attire, which simply flaunts a woman’s sexuality indiscriminately, has no place in a Christian woman’s wardrobe. Some dress provocatively as a power play and some dress in such ways simply to follow the crowd.  However, weather knowingly or unknowingly the path that both walk leads not towards, but away from God.

Please understand I am not saying that lack of clothes and showing too much skin makes a person unholy.  After all, Adam and Eve were naked before God and were not ashamed.  I am talking specifically about attire that is meant to display an inappropriate sexuality for the purpose of enticement. The singer Madonna and her heir apparent “Lady” Gaga are examples of this weaponized sexuality. These types of trend setters are leading a generation of young women down a path of seduction and promiscuity that will, for many, result in heart ache and personal loss.

There is a godly and simple beauty that our Lord has adorned every woman with.  Purity of heart, loyalty, faithfulness, and wisdom are the ornaments that a truly Spirit led woman posses. A woman who seeks to maximize her femininity and becomes a faithful helpmate to a God given husband manifests true beauty from within and without. It is these inner attributes that commend her both to God, her husband, and society regardless of her outward appearance. Such women are often unappreciated and passed over for women of lesser quality but greater beauty. Young men need to be educated as to what makes a good wife rather than just what makes a good date.

It is not sin for a Christian woman to be stunningly lovely if she is able to keep her appearance in right perspective. An attractive woman is a wonderful creation and a blessing if she can still remained focused on her God given role as a helpmate, mother, and resist being corrupted by reason of her beauty. Here is a truth:

“If a woman is able to rejoice in her beauty when she is young and then release it gracefully when she ages then she is truly a godly woman.”

In conclusion, let us become aware of how the Chief Musician is seeking to reveal himself in our realm.  Let us not become ensnared and driven by his designs and lusts. Let us manifest the Holy Spirit to those in need through loving them as Christ loves us.  In this way we will become the sons of the living God and prosper in all our ways.
