The Importance of Obedience
It is written,
“ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.”
Things were serious. Two angels, sent by God, were about to rain fire down on Sodom and Gomorrah and they were trying to save Lot and his family before they did. The night before, the angels had personally witnessed the extent of the sin of those cites when a group of men threatened to rape them. Now, the judgement of that evil place was at hand but, because Abraham and bargained with God, one of the angels was giving instructions to his brother Lot, for his safety.
When serious events are taking place in God’s timetable it is vital to be obedient and not to question His directives. It is a time to do exactly what He says when He says to do it. At such times there is no room for error because what might be forgivable in lesser circumstances can mean certain disaster during those perilous times.
In the near future, we are coming into some very difficult times. Those who look at end time events seemed to be fixated on what is happening with Israel viewing it as some sort of weather vain of what God is going to do. However, in the gentile church the real predictor of end time events is not Israel but the spiritual state of the church. Before Jesus will come the bride must make herself ready. Therefore, when you see the bride making herself ready that is a sure sign that our Bridegroom is on His way.
The Devil, who is depicted as the dragon in the book of Revelation, is acutely aware of this. Satan knows, better than most, what God is doing in His saints and fallen lucifer is doing everything in his satanic power to hold back the manifestation of the sons of God. In advance of the mighty move of Tabernacles the father of lies is moving his chess pieces into position. Satan intends to stop what God is doing even if it means killing those who are about to be born of the Spirit.
For example, the militarization of Americas police force is presently underway. This amounts to a standing army for domestic use. We are told that this is necessary to fight “terrorism.” However, when you stop and think about it how does military grade weaponry and even armored vehicles make us more safe from random acts of terror? The answer is that they don’t because they can only show up after the fact. This standing army is meant for only one thing: to enforce the will of the government upon the people of the United States. While, by law, the military can only be used to wage war on foreign soil a militarized police force has no such limitations.
I know that saying such things automatically sounds like “conspiracy theorist” mumbo jumbo. However, we cannot ignore the signs of the times just because we do not wish to be lumped in with the “crazies.” It is a historical fact that Christians have been brutally persecuted down throughout the centuries. Rome, under a succession of Roman emperors, imprisoned, torture, and killed Christians. The Roman Catholic Church through the inquisitions and protestant/catholic wars killed millions. In some places in Europe the populations were reduced by half. In our modern era, Hitler and his concentration camps, are a foreshadowing of the type of fury that possessed men can unleash upon religious people that they despise. Up until the time it happen to them no one thought it could or would.
These persecutions are always the “go to” method of the Devil when He believes he is going to lose control over the church. When God initiates major moves of His Spirit Satan always resorts to intimidation through violence and mass murder. The size and nature of the move of the Spirit determines the size and nature of the push back from the demonic realm.
The restoration of the Tabernacle Blessing is the single biggest event in church history other than the first advent of Christ. It is bigger than the protestant reformation in scope and spiritual effect. It is the final revival of the gentile church age and as such will illicit a response from the Dragon of revelation commensurate with the real threat to his world wide dominion.
It is during these times that obedience to the word of God can literally mean the difference between life and death. I am not taking about just the written word but, more importantly, the spoken word of God to you as an individual.
It is written,
“But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.”
The angel warned lot not to look upon the destruction of those doomed cities and I am sure he told his family these instructions too, yet, Lot’s wife looked anyway. While disobedience at other times to the word of the lord may have been no big deal, disobedience under those extreme circumstances had mortal consequences.
Likewise, in these last days, it is imperative that we listen, hear, and obey on time. When things are very serious and the stakes are high this proverb can help save not only your life but the lives to your family and others around you. Our Father knows what is going to happen and if we are sensitive to His Holy Spirit we can simply avoid these situations if we will take timely action as He directs.
For example, it was fully 17 years after the communists took over Russia that the real purges began. Before that time things continued as they had been for most people in the country. God warned many to flee Russia during the relatively calm years before those first waves of mass killings. Only a very few took the spoken word of God through His prophets seriously and took the very hard steps to leave the country. Those who did were looked upon of as paranoid fools by those who thought there was no real danger. The people who left suffered hardships on their journey but many who stayed died in concentration camps, were murdered, or starved to death.
Right now, and I say this by the word of the Lord, we are in the calm before the storm. We have been told by many prophets that tough times for Christians are coming. Most of us do not believe this and so do nothing to prepare ourselves for this eventuality. Yet, in those dark days, what we have done now to learn to hear the voice of God may be all that stands between us and certain death.
In conclusion, I personally find the degree of apathy among my brethren alarming. People do not recognize that we must prepare ourselves now spiritually in order to survive the demonic onslaught that will shortly be unleash upon the whole world. I am speaking about spiritual preparation by coming together as one and learning the voice of our God. I am not talking about digging a hole in the ground and stocking it with food and ammunition. it is written,
“ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;:
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
What we do in the natural to prepare for the future cannot be determine by our natural man. We must listen to our Father and simply do what He says when He says to do whatever that may be. Most of the time what God says to do will be counter intuitive to what we reason should be done according to the circumstance we see. This is where “obedience” comes into play. We must take the warnings of God seriously if we do not wish to end up like lots wife. All that stood between lot’s wife living and dying was simple obedience. A word to the wise is sufficient.
