Luke says,
“But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.”
Luke 11:5
Don’t call what God does of Beelzebub
I wish to speak to about an area that I feel is particularly grievous in the sight of our heavenly Father: that of calling what He does of the Devil (Beelzebub). Recently, I was talking with an old friend who called what God did in a move of His Spirit “sin.”
There is a temptation, in order to “get along,” of glossing over such statements but I think that is not proper. We should not allow others to misrepresent what God does by His Holy Spirit as the working of Beelzebub (Satan).
Spiritual cowardice does not cut it with God
Frankly, I think it is spiritual cowardice to call what God does “of the Devil” so that you can “fit in” with the normative church. When people yield to peer pressure in order to be acceptable to others they deny God in favor of being ” included” by a group of people who disrespect the One who saved them.
We have all been silent for far too long and it has eroded our sense of who we are and who God is. Being a Christian necessarily puts us outside the norm. Normal is not Godly, normal is satanic because the whole world lies in the lap of the wicked one. The Devil has corrupted this creation and all that lies within it to the point where we feel tempted to call light darkness and darkness light. Many do evil calling it good and some Christians are too afraid of rocking the boat to take a stand against it.
Compromise is the refuge of the weak and ineffectual
What God does is by definition “good” no matter what any one person or group of people say. Compromise is the refuge of the weak and ineffectual. It is the sanctuary of those who give up and give in to the father of lies. Letting yourself calling of Beelzebub what God does, simply because others view it as messy or outside what the normative church sanctions, denies God Himself and the scriptures says this,
“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”
Matthew 10:32-38
It is God or nothing. You stand with Him even if it is uncomfortable or else you are not worthy of Him.
In this world we shall have tribulation
When God moves by His Spirit, no matter how much people persecute you, you must stand firm with Him. Don’t move one inch off of what His Spirit does even if you take a beating from the world. God is the one who gives eternal life and, those around you who deny His Spirit, are the enemies of your soul. Such Judases do not care that they are denying the one who bought them, only that you take your portion of their blood money. The Iscariot’s of this world only look for comfort, acceptance, and gain in this temporal life. The Devil controls such people and the wages of sin are their tragic end.
The whole world lies in the lap of the wicked one
Satan lulls us to sleep through compromise. We are all in peril of letting others determine the eternal state of our souls because we refuse to stand strong with our Savior. Going along to get along only leads to eternal damnation because you slip in your commitment to God until you slide to the side of those who are against Him.
Denying Christ is not simply denying Him at some theoretical gun point in a dystopian future. Denying Christ happens every day when we refuse to stand with Him in what His Spirit says. We are to be militant about following God’s voice. Let us be strong in our beliefs even if they offend the entire world. Stand with God against evil and refuse to give in or give up when the world challenges what He says or does.
Christians do not “get along” with a world that opposes God
I am so sick and tired of Laodician Christians believing that they can live in the world, be like the world, get along with the world and still follow Christ. Not so! We are to come out of her (spiritual Egypt) and touch not the unclean thing. Do not take a wedge of gold and a Babylonish garment to hide under our tent thinking you can still pretend that we are with the people of faith. God will find you out, God will single you out, coming face to face with the His judgement. Sadly, often times not only compromisers suffer judgement bu also for all those they have corrupted with them.
Believers use their precious time on this Eart to serve God while others squander it. What are we building while we yet breath that is of eternal worth? Will we have anything to show our Father when we stand before Him at the great white throne judgement seat of Christ? Will we have gold tried in the fire or will you have nothing but ashes to show your Savior?
Do not call the things of God evil
Wake up! Stand up! Plant your feet saying “I will not move come hell our high water from where God has placed me!” No one will call that which God does of the devil no matter how much others disapprove of who and what Jesus is. Together, we will not back down and we will not give in. Side by side, we stand with our Father no matter what. We are Christians no matter what. Convenience and acceptability does not enter into the the equation for we believe that standing with God is not optional.
Let conviction do it’s cleansing work
If you like, be offended. Let my words burn down to the bottom of your soul if you are taken in the offence of compromise. I hope you cannot sleep for the next three nights because of terrible conviction upon your heart. No, I will not allow people to call what God does of Beelzebub without challenging them. We cannot stand by and see anyone risk eternal damnation simply because we didn’t speak the truth. I will not fail to give an account of what God has done in my life because others sneer.
God says,
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”
Proverbs 27:6
Amen.
