Paul says,

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”

Romans 10:17

There is a reason ministers preach to people.  It is because, more often than not, faith comes by hearing the spoken word of God.

We read,

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

Genesis 1:3

Here is a truth,

“From the very beginning God has preferred to speak.”

In the book of Exodus we read,

“...Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount... And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.”

Exodus 19:17,19

and,

“And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (and goes on the give the ten commandments)

Again God chose to speak.  What many people do not know is that God did not write the Ten Commandments originally, but spoke them from Mount Horeb to the children of Israel.  Unfortunately, His people, because of fear, begged Moses to go up and hear the word of God for them.  However, even when Moses went up and heard the commandments of God, he still spoke them to the people.  It was only later that God wrote His words on the tablets of stone.

Jesus was not a doctor of the law, but a revelator of his Father’s Spirit

Jesus Speaks Near the Treasury

Jesus, who as the express image of God,  wrote nothing down but rather simply spoke the word of God.  Only after his death were his words preserved in the gospels.  Speaking what the Holy Spirit gave to him is what changed the world.  Like Moses, God spoke His words to His son and he delivered them to us.

There is power in the spoken word of God.  It is through speaking that the revelation is transferred from person to person, allowing us to hear the truth, not only with ears, but with our hearts and spirits.  When we speak His words to others, faith is born in the hearts of those who listen to us; revelation is transferred and people are changed.

Ours is not an intellectual faith

Ours is not an intellectual religion but rather a belief based upon simple faith in the voice of the God we serve.  People want to pretend like Christianity makes a lot of sense but it does not…and deliberately so.  It is through the foolishness of the cross that God chooses to save us because it prevents us from coming to Him through what seems right in our own eyes.  Through unbelief man sinned, therefore, through faith man must be saved.

When our Father starts to speak, there is a certainty that comes into our souls because something from long ago, in us, remembers His voice.  The communion that was broken in Eden has been mended by Christ’s sacrifice and we are at liberty to walk, once again, in the cool of the day with our Father.  We begin to return to our first estate and it feels like coming home.

Intellectualism is not of God

The intellectual Christianity that pervades the church is not divinely authored but man-made.  It is a manufactured faith that has little to do with who God really is, what God really wants, and where God really desires His people to go.  Generations of theologians have fed from the knowledge of good and have codified it into doctrines that, more often than not, have little to do with true faith in God.  These dogmas have become shackles that bind God’s people in the past, not letting them hear the voice of their Lord for today.

In conclusion, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.  It is the word that God speaks today, right now, to your heart.  It is a living word that instructs us on how to proceed, in Him, this very hour so that you can do His will as we live today.  God’s word is active and it begs activity from us so that He might reveal Himself to those around us.  It is not something we have to study or learn but rather just obey.  Through our obedience, God is able to touch the lives of those who need to hear His voice too.  In this way we start to become the manifested sons of God and Jesus walks the Earth once again in us.

Here is a truth,

“Our ability to hear God’s voice has more to do with the condition of our hearts than our capacity to understand Him.”

If you desire to walk with God, expect a two way conversation to take place.  Do not try to figure things out any longer, but simply ask your Father and then live by what He speaks to you.  Live by every word that proceeds out of His mouth today.  This is our heritage and this is also our way forward to our future.
