lord of intimacy

Caution:

In this essay, I write about topics that some consider taboo in Christianity.  If frank discussions of intimacy bother you, please do not continue reading.

There is a fundamental error in many Christians belief systems.  It is the same mistake made by Fallen Lucifer in the Garden of Eden.  Essentially, this error is:

“God is bound by His law”

Lucifer, the fallen Seraph of God, sought to kill Eve by tempting her to eat of the forbidden fruit.  Knowing that God is righteous, she thought that YHWH would have to kill Eve because she sinned. To Luci’s surprise and dismay, instead of killing Adam and his wife, God gave them grace and performed the first lamb sacrifice. Satan’s plot backfired terribly on her. God sentenced the Devil to death and eternal torment, while His judgement was redemption and eternal life for mankind.

The law of the Meads and Persians,

An example of this whole scenario played out in detail when Haman entrapped king Ahasuerus into passing a law to kill the Jews, not knowing that Queen Esther was herself a jew.  Thus, Haman sought to put king Ahasuerus in a position where he must destroy the Jewish people and Esther too.  However, though the king could not go against his law, he made a new commandment which decreed the Jews could protect themselves and spoil their attackers.   Through Haman’s miscalculation, God gave victory to His people.

Here is a truth,

“the new commandment God gives us to “love one another” overcomes the law of sin and death”

The story of love overcoming law plays out again and again in scripture, because it shows us what happened in the beginning.  It also demonstrates that, although God does not break His own law, He is never backed into a corner or without options.

God is sovereign

Many theologians believe God cannot do this or that based on their interpretation of scriptures.  In essence, natural minded people think that YHWH is not completely sovereign.  However, God is Lord over all and is not bound by anything or anyone.  Just like Lucifer, if you believe you’ve backed God into a corner, you will be wrong every time.

People, who saw Jesus’ disciples roll corn in their hands on the Sabbath, accused them of breaking the law.  However, Jesus said to them that king David, a man after God’s own heart, ate the shew bread in the Tabernacle when he and his men were hungry. To the natural minded man this broke God’s law, but to the Spirit led man, is was ok.  Why?  It was ok because “not” eating the bread goes against everything it represents. Allowing men to go hungry and die in the presence of the bread of life is the opposite of what God intended. Therefore, God is greater than our natural understanding of His law and we need to be Spirit led like David.

The Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day

Therefore, here is a truth,

“Jesus is also the Lord of intimacy”

Jesus means “YHWH saves”.   God, who dwells fully in Jesus, can do whatever He wants in the area of intimacy, because He is Lord over it.  YHWH demonstrated this when He impregnated Mary and she conceived Jesus.  Our Lord even did that holy act while Mary was betrothed to another man.  Moreover, to quell Josephs’s fears, He sent an angel who said,

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.”

Matthew 1:20

Pentecost: the first fruits of God’s Spirit

The feast of Pentecost celebrates the first fruits of the harvest.  On the Day of Pentecost, God came like a mighty, rushing wind and in-dwelt His people.  The sign of this indwelling is speaking in other tongues as His Spirit gives the utterance.  Essentially, those whom God fills yield that part of their bodies to Him.

When you speak in other tongues it is effortless.  Sometimes, due to our natural minds, we find it difficult to let go of our flesh, however, soon it becomes second nature.  Our tongues are only one part of our body.  Yielding that first part of our body corresponds to the day of Pentecost as a celebration of first fruits.

Tabernacles: the feast of ingathering

The feast of Tabernacles is the feast of ingathering.  It occurs at the harvest time when all the fruits and grains are gathered.  Tabernacles is the completion of the harvest that began during the feast of Pentecost.  It is the biggest feast of the year and it ends on the last great day, an 8th day, when there is a holy convocation.

This feast corresponds to the in-filling and yielding to the Holy Spirit, of not just of our tongue, but of our entire body.  Whereas we gave God our tongue, now we give ourselves over completely to God and become one with Him.  This is the essence of the Tabernacle Experience.

Jesus is the Lord of intimacy

Holiness is not lack of physical touch, but the yielding of our entire bodies to His Spirit.  Whereas we began by giving our tongues to God as a sign of being filled with His Spirit, now we give our entire bodies to Him as a sign of being One with YHWH.  Therefore, as we yield to the Holy Spirit, everything we do is a manifestation of God’s will.

This is where everything becomes murky in Christian’s minds.  While they can agree with what I say to an extent, the Clergy conditions believers to reject Spirit led intimacy. We can all acknowledge that God moves through us by laying our hands on the sick.  In certain situations we can also agree that hugging a brother or sister is acceptable.  However, most people have been taught that physical intimacy and God are mutually exclusive.

Yielding our secret places to God.

However, we are the Bride of Christ, and the Lord of intimacy wants to know us.  In the natural realm, when a man and woman make love, they become one flesh.  When a man covers a woman she opens herself up to him in the most intimate way possible.  It is a time of joy, sensuality, and physical delight for both.

As good as being with your lover is, most people never realize what is actually going on.  Moreover, because they are taught that God and sex are antithetical, they do not include Him in their intimate times.  The truth is, though, God made our ability to join together to express Himself through us and to us.  In the beginning, as we loved in Eden, God loved us and we loved Him through each other.

The original intent of  sexual union

Just as God takes over your tongue as you yield that member of your body to Him, God also takes over your secret places during holy intimacy.  The Holy Spirit flows through the woman and also flows through the man.  This is God’s original intent for the act of marriage and it is still His will for us today.  This is a fundamental attribute of the Bride of Christ.

In times past, God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.  Now God is in us finishing that work.  During Christ’s day, God was doing a specific thing through His son and in our day, God is doing a specific work through us too.

We are the church of Philadelphia

Therefore, we now become love and manifest the Lord of intimacy to the world.  Such love is necessarily intimate, ranging from holding hands to snuggling to making love as Divine Mates.  Thus, there is a high degree of physical expression as we love “one to another” as YHWH loves through us.

Admittedly, newlyweds spend a lot of time in the bedroom, but that’s not all they do.  Likewise, the Body of Christ is going to spend a lot of time hugging, kissing, and generally being very comfortable with each other, but that is not all we do either.  The ministry of God’s anointed looks something like this:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”

Luke 4:18

What Christ said is still the focus of the Spirit of God in us.  However, it is the way God goes about doing this in our generation that is different from Jesus’ day.

Intimacy with God

And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,  And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.  Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.”

Luke 7:37-39

Be willing to wash Jesus’s feet

We are all sinners.  However, being a sinner does not matter when God asks you to wash His son’s feet with your hair.  Being Spirit lead, Jesus accepts her intimate sacrifice, rebuking those who did not see her loving actions for what they were.

Likewise, though we are imperfect, we must be willing to be intimate too.  Sacrifice your pride and kiss if that is what God leads you to do.  Be faithful to His Spirit no matter how much your actions shock those around you.

Divine Mates

Divine mates are special instances of Divine Love within the Body of Christ.  Not everyone in Christ’s body are joined in such a deep and profound manner.  The Bride is spiritually connected to various degrees, and in different ways, as His Spirit leads.  Not all spiritual connections are meant for physical/spiritual intimacy.  God joins whom He wills for His pleasure and purposes.

However, I believe that Divine Mates do form the core of the Bride of Christ.  It is the very reason that God keeps the church of Philadelphia out of the hour of temptation.  Thus, if you are called to become one with God as a Divine Mate, it is a special calling.

The Romeos and Juliets of our time

Divine mates face formidable odds.  They may be different religions, social status, or even marital status.  Lucifer hates Divine Mates.  Luci hated them in the Garden of Eden and she hates them even more now.

Romeo and Juliet portrays Divine Mates from a natural standpoint, which ends in tragedy.  However, when God is involved with divine mates there is a happy ending.  Know that if YHWH gives you a Divine Mate, nothing in heaven or on earth can keep you apart.  You have a love that is literally foreordained before the foundations of the world.  If you will both believe, no mountain of this world can stand in your way.

Kim Walker is spot on in what she says, except the intimacy she speaks of is between believers
