God’s eternal truths are self-evident

Paul says,

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”

Romans 1:20

This is not only true of the Godhead but pretty much true for everything else that our Father creates.  Yet, oftentimes, we just can’t seem to see His truth for what it is.

Recognizing the obvious

If a person walks along a beach, far from civilization, and finds a pile of similar rocks balanced one upon on the other, they immediately assume someone did it.  Yet, when we see such organization on a massive, universal scale, we are told that it just “happened” all by itself.  If you ask me, believing that everything, including ourselves,  results from random chance is Strong Delusion.

Likewise, when it comes to intimacy, many believe that attraction to the opposite sex is also a random event.  Many call it “chemistry”.  You look across a room, eyes meet, there is an instant, physical attraction and stars align.  Some also call this “love at first sight” and many consider this the most powerful form of love a person can experience.  Yet, is such love actually random?  Is chemistry just some mystical coincidence or biological reaction?  I say no, not even remotely true.

Two types of attractions

There are two types of instant attractions.  One is from God and the other is from Satan.  Remember, I am talking about powerful, instant attractions and not “run of the mill” relationships.  When this happens, what is taking place, is a spiritual connection, aided by either angels or demons.

God wants us to connect with each other through His Spirit.  Our Father says,

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Genesis 1:28

Be fruitful and multiply

Therefore, it is God’s will that we make love and bring forth children abundantly.  However, God wants us to join with a mate of His choice,  just like happened with Adam and Eve.  Often times, when there is an instant attraction, God is busy matchmaking between His children.  Such love is pure, feels heavenly, and you love the other selflessly.  You just want to make “them” happy.  Love that seeks not its own is the hallmark of a Godly spiritual connection.  Such love is the first love of Eden.

Ungodly attractions, on the other hand, are the type of “hook-ups” that many are familiar with in nightclubs.  Unholy attractions may also be instant and powerful but in a very carnal, selfish way.  Hollywood promotes this type of  “all about me” liaison relentlessly.  Marilyn Monroe is the stereotype of this type of debased sexuality.

It is obvious that we are more than objects of desire

Thus, in Hollywood, women become objects of desire to satisfy men’s lust.  Consequently, women resent being objectified and often refer to men as dogs.  Women, having carnal desires themselves, often use men to fulfill their wants too.   This is why some men similarly refer to women as bitches.  Earthly, selfish love degrades intimacy into simple lust.  Yet, in the beginning, it was not so.

True spiritual connections take place all the time, yet we fail to understand what is really happening.  Instant attractions are not random chance but pairings authored by whichever spirit people yield too.  Furthermore, two types of children are born from these unions: those who have a propensity towards God and those who do not.  Certainly, every child has a free will before God, however, some children start out with more advantages than others.  In fact, if you can receive it, a love child is often a result of heavenly love.

Don’t ignore the obvious

Like a pile of rocks on the lonely beach, the implications of spiritual connections are obvious.  Just as order implies intelligent design, pure love at first sight implies the intervention of God.  Hooking up in a bar after a few drinks implies something quite different. The results of either type of instant attraction have eternal implications too. More and more I come to understand that many cannot see, because they will not see.  Our inability to understand the obvious is a function of our hearts and not our heads.

Jesus says,

And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:  For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their hearts, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”

Matthew 13:14,15

In conclusion, come to know God in a very personal, experiential way.  We can be really educated but die forever through our own understanding, or we can be unlearned, like Peter and John, and live forever through God’s revelation.

Luke says,

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”

Luke 4:13
