Can’t You Read The Signs?

I woke up this morning thinking about signs.  It came to me, I believe through revelation, that whenever God shows up there are signs present.  God says,

It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.”

2 Chronicles 5:13,14

We need signs of life

Perhaps you have heard the saying “signs of life?”  When someone appears dead people check for a pulse and look for other indications that the person may still be alive.  In fact, when people lack signs of life they are usually pronounced dead. A regularly bouncing blip on a heart monitor is a good thing while a flat line is cause for alarm.

Some people view those who look for signs of life as somehow  weak and not able to live by faith.  To many being able to live without signs is considered a higher form of Christianity.  They do not need to speak in tongues nor do they need a rapture to escape great tribulation.  They do not need emotional experiences and consider them crutches for those who cannot stand on their own.  In fact the less signs they experience the more they believe they are walking strong in God.  Nothing, in my opinion, could be further from the truth.

Read the signs

While we must walk with God even in the absence of “signs,” it is preferable to walk with signs.  We should embrace instead of eschew manifestations of God’s presence. To experience God’s signs in a demonstrative way our very nature is renewed and changed for the better.  God says,

And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.”

1 Samuel 10:6.7

And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

1 Samuel 10:9

Here is a truth,

“It is in the presence of God that we find sustenance, shelter, and light.”

God says,

“Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys:”

Exodus 40:43-36

The children of Israel lived by following the presence of God. It was through signs that they were able to know where God was.  It’s not weakness to follow the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night but rather expedience.  To be where God is means shelter, food, and protection. It is the only way the children of Israel could survive in the desert. For us to survive in the present day wilderness we also need to be close to God where signs abound.

Signs of life

Just as a body without a spirit is dead so to churches without the Spirit are also lifeless.  Some churches have been deceased for so long, that their leaders make lack of signs a virtue.  Rather than mourning their lack of  the Spirit they are proud of it. They even look down upon others who earnestly seek after signs of life. Many are actually proud that they don’t need emotional experiences to walk with God.  However, if one meets the creator of Heaven and Earth I don’t see how they cannot be emotionally impacted.  Even a baby lept in his mothers womb at the presence of the unborn Christ.  How much more should we react in ecstatic ways to the presence of our risen Savior?

The truth is that we are all mixed up about a great many things in Christianity.  In our hearts we want to serve God but we just don’t know how to properly go about it.  Live by revelation for only in that way can our Father teach us what we really need to know.

Strong delusion

We have entered into a time of strong delusion.  The world is turning towards the spirit of antichrist in preparation for his revealing.  It is important to able to live by every world that proceeds our of the mouth of our Father on a daily basis. We must trust Him more than everything that is going on around us.  We need to seek His presence and signs are what indicate where He is.

In conclusion, everyone should welcome sings into our lives and into our churches.  Jesus came to bring us life and life more abundantly, therefore when He is present there are signs of life.  Let no one intimidate us into thinking we shouldn’t want to see signs, for to experience God is our goal .
