God says,
“And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”
1 John 4:3
The apostle John talks about the spirit of antichrist and states that even in the first century it was already in the world. John goes on to say that this spirit denies that Christ has come in the flesh. Though this is one aspect of the spirit of antichrist I also think that this is only one example of the way in which this spirit reveals it’s repulsion to God manifest in the flesh.
The antichrist spirit refuses to acknowledge that God was in Christ. It does not admit that Jesus was the anointed one. That false spirit does not confess that Jesus was God manifest in the flesh. It is unwilling to admit that the Holy Spirit filled Jesus and that He was the express image and likeness of God. Satan does not want people to receive Jesus for who He really is because fallen Lucifer wants to claim to be the image of God when he comes in the form of the antichrist. God says,
The day will come
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
2 Thessalonians 2:3,4
I personally believe that the spirit of antichrist is much more deeply ingrained in our society than most people realize. This spirit is against all the things of God and at every turn, at every chance, it seeks to block the knowledge of who God really is (Jesus Christ) by substituting itself for Him. Many people, through pride, cannot accept that they may be yielding to this pervasive spirit and becoming unwitting emissaries of it.
Why refuse a free gift from God?
Take, for instance, those who reject the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. I am not talking about people who are simply confused about this doctrine, but those who actively oppose it. Many people preach and teach that tongues have ceased and ridicules the Spirit which gives them the utterance. Some even go so far and to say that such believers are of the Devil! That is not just a difference in theological viewpoint but an actual rejection of the promise of our Father. Those who stand against speaking in other tongues are, in reality, opposing God Himself.
You can be deceived and still be provisionally saved. It just means they have no discernment when it comes to who the Holy Spirit really is. This, in turn, sets them up to be deceived by the flood of strong delusion.. Here is a truth,
You will chose His Spirit or fall prey to a spirit
“Those who reject the true Spirit of God are in real danger of accepting the false spirit of the antichrist.”
This truth, is not meant to condemn but rather to forewarn. There is a difference between mere ignorance of the Comforter and the outright rejection of Him. The first can be quickly remedied through truth but the latter is more intransigent. Those who set themselves against Truth are open and vulnerable to accept a lie: i.e. the antichrist.
I counsel you to learn to know the voice of God now so that you will be able to recognize His Spirit then. Open your minds and hearts to receive His Holy Spirit in whatever way He chooses to reveal Himself. Get to know Him before the full force of strong delusion descends upon our world. It is “strong” delusion and not simply “mild” delusion. This instead-of-christ will deceive, if possible, even the very elect.
Accept the truth or be vulnerable to the lie
In conclusion, those who do not recognize the Truth are vulnerable to accept any lie. The Holy Spirit in us, the Spirit of truth, is the only way we know the truth. The Truth living in us, which is the Holy Spirit, protects us from strong delusion. I urge you to fill your lamps with oil now before that darkness comes. Without His light, no man will be able to see.
