Do You Have A Plan B With God?

Many people, when it comes to God, find it difficult to fully commit. There is always this escape clause lurking in the back of their minds and hearts. It is almost like they have a “Plan B” in case “Plan A” doesn’t work out well.

The failure to commit is a big issue that keeps many from the blessings of God in their life. In fact, keeping something back while pretending to give all to God really ticks Him off sometimes.

Failure to commit has consequences

God says,

“But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,  And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?  Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.”

Acts 5:1-5

Likewise, our failure to fully commit to the course that God lays out for us can have grave spiritual consequences, too. This is true because the Devil will test you to the limits of your endurance until you simply say, “Get thee behind me Satan”.

Back doors are booby-traps

While many view escape hatches as safety devices, God does not. When God tells you to do something and you almost do it, you don’t get partial credit. As Yoda says,

“Do, or do not, there is no try”

Oftentimes, if you stop halfway through the desert and turn back, you are worse off than if you had stayed in Egypt. Christians who constantly doubt what God has called them to suffer from a severe handicap of unbelief. In fact, though God delivered the children of Israel from Egypt, a great many died in the wilderness simply because they doubted the promises of God.

There is no Plan B, just Plan G

The truth is, there is no Plan B, only the plan that God lays out for us. Second-guessing God in the midst of trials is about the worst thing you can do.

The children of Israel said,

“And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord. And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?”

Exodus 14:10,11

This is the same people who bleached their bones in the Desert of Sin during their forty years in the wilderness. I ask you, “are you doing the same?”

When it comes to God, put all your eggs in His basket

In conclusion, when God calls you to believe or do anything, commit to Him without a Plan B. Put every egg you own into His basket and keep nothing back. If your eggs break, know that you have done all that He said and trust Him to put you back together again. Amen.
