Living In A Post-Truth World

God says,
“ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” (NIV)
2 Thessalonians 2: 8-13
We live in a Post-Truth world. That is to say, while there is one, objective truth, it no longer matters to most people. Rather, the term truth has been recast to mean that whatever people believe “their own truth is,” equals reality.” This is of course ludicrous, but there you have it.
If you think about it, moving away from one, concrete reality started way back with impressionism and progressed through a can of Campbell’s soup being hailed as art, to the satanic worship at the last music awards.
The Reality Equation
- Christ = reality.
- Moving away from Christ = unreality.
- Unreality = Antichrist
- Antichrist = Satan
As Christians living in a Post-Truth world, we must come to understand that rational reason means little to those caught in the grips of Strong Delusion. At this point, when we speak of Jesus to others, in order to break through the demonic fog they live in, we must be led by His Spirit and speak the words He puts in our minds and hearts without trying to rely on what we know. Only Strong Revelation can counteract Strong Delusion.
What I am saying to you is this: Your doctrine, no matter how reasonable and theologically correct you may believe it is, will not make a dent in the demonic psychosis that prevails among the saved and unsaved. At this point, only God manifest through you will penetrate into their hearts. Their minds are so enslaved to you must bypass them through divine love. Moreover, if you, yourself, do not listen to the Holy Spirit and hold fast to Him as an anchor in this hurricane of unreality, this flood may very well sweep you away, too.
Jesus said, more than once,
“He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” (KJV)
Matthew 11:15
Reality is this: When you walk in the Spirit, things just make sense because you see as God sees. Our Father’s perspective allows us to remain steady in an uncertain age where the world seems to be going crazy. This, in turn, allows us to become a rock upon which others can seek refuge as they feel the wind and waves of Strong Delusion buffet them. You can be a testimony simply by standing firm upon the rock of your salvation as a lighthouse of Strong Revelation to those caught up in the storm.
In conclusion, let us work together and stand steady in the Truth of the Holy Spirit. We do have a blessed hope and we will rise even when the world around us seems to be falling apart. This earth is not our home, for we are destined to stand on the shores of eternity in a world to come, a perfect place, a New Heavens and New Earth. We have been forewarned by Jesus that this world and all that is in it is passing away, therefore, do not be surprised when it does. Together, let’s work while it is yet day and allow God to lead and guide us in everything we do so that some may be saved.
Amen.
