Do you blaspheme God’s image?
Merriam-Webster defines blasphemy as:
“to speak in a way that shows irreverence for God or something sacred : to utter blasphemy.”
And, God says,
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Genesis 1:27
If someone degrades and disrespect the image of God, can that person then claim that they revere Him? If a believer reviles and hates a person created in the likeness of YHWH, can they say with sincerity that they respect their creator? Moreover, if a woman despises a man, can she then say she loves God in whose image the man is created?
There is a war against God raging in our time, and one manifestation of that conflict is the disrespect of His image. The very system, put in place for the betterment and protection of women, is under attack. In western culture, it has become cliche’ to portray patriarchal men as overbearing fools, ignorant oafs and insensitive louts. We all laugh at these caricatures, but in reality, we mock the God who made us. It is not comedy, brethren, it is sacrilege.
To despise God’s image is to disrespect God Himself
Those who despise the image of the Almighty, revile God himself. Degrading the likeness of the Most High demonstrates disregard for our creator. There is nothing righteous or good about defacing what God made, nor is it enough to point out the error of the few as a reason for despising the many.
God says,
“Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”
Genesis 3:16
And,
“And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”
I Timothy 2:14
God put women under the care of men, made in His image and after His likeness, for a very good reason. It was to prevent Eve and her daughters from being deceived again. YHWH recognized that because Adam was not deceived, Eve and her generations would be protected by their husbands’ guidance in matters of temptation. Therefore, even though women have different gifts and attributes, often times greater than their mates, in matters of choosing what is right and wrong, women benefit from their husbands’ inherent better judgement.
