The Marriage Bed of God is Undefiled

Caution:

In this essay, I write about a topic that is considered taboo in Christianity.  If frank discussions of intimacy bother you, please do not continue reading.

For some time, I have been thinking about what happens after the marriage supper of the Lamb.

“And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”

Revelation 19:9

From scripture, we know that Jesus is the Lamb of God.

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

John 1:29

And lastly,

“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”

2 Corinthians 11:2

Personally, I don’t believe that referencing scriptures makes anything I say more or less true, due to the fact that what I write is either revelation or it isn’t. However, it does help some place what I say within the context of what they know, so in that way it may help.

As a woman reaches the point in her life where she wants to wed, her perspectives about many intimate things change. She desires intimacy with a mate and things that have been previously beyond her world, now become the focus of her attention. The same goes with a man – the world calls it “settling down.”

Likewise, these earthly pictures represent heavenly truths for our generation. As the Bride of Christ nears her time of love, our thoughts naturally turn toward intimacy. We think of heavenly intimacy and we desire to be close to our Lord in ways that, previously, we did not imagine.

Paul states,

“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled:”

Hebrews 13:4

We are the Lamb’s wife

Therefore, we are the Bride of Christ who is destined to become the Lamb’s wife. A wife has intimate relationship with her Husband and whatever they do together, in their marriage bed, is proper. Furthermore, it would be improper for someone to criticize or judge what they do in the privacy of their own home.

So far so good. Most believers may agree with me up to this point. As long as all intimate relationships with God are spiritualized and have little real world expression, except in the church’s strictly defined view of marriage, its all good.

Here is a truth.

God is about to take His Bride and make love to her and it is nobody’s business what He and His wife do together in their intimate space.

What I am saying to you and to all those who have ears to hear in this generation, is that God has every right to love His bride as he sees fit, whenever, wherever, and through whomever He desires. Moreover, since God has chosen, through the infilling of the Holy Spirit, to dwell in His saints, He will love His bride through manifesting through His bride.

During Spiritual Connections, which is the manifestation of God’s Divine Love, I was always struck by how deep, passionate unions were usually formed through male/female pairs. Though there was affection between sexes in the form of hugging and the like, the dancing, kissing, and other more intimate forms of expression were always between males and females.

I have come to believe this is true, because God is showing through such unions a picture of the greater union He desires to form with His bride. Whereas His bride is made up of millions or even billions of people down through the ages, taken as a whole, they represent the female to His male. Thus, when He manifests His love through the body of Christ, His affection is naturally shown through opposite sex pairings.

In these latter days, God loves us through one another

What I experienced during the move of Tabernacles was God loving His bride through members of His body. Holy kisses were holy simply because it was the Holy Spirit kissing another through that person. It was the actions initiated through His Spirit that sanctified what, in another situation, may have been inappropriate.

Likewise, the Holy Spirit sanctifies the marriage bed of God and anything which is done in that intimate space with God at His initiation is proper, holy and pure. This also means that it cannot be judged or criticized or managed by someone or some group outside that relationship.

What I have just written goes against much of what Christianity assumes they have the power to do. Most clergy and their congregations believe that they have a “God-given” mandate to be the intimacy police. In fact, if they don’t limit physical expression between people in the church, they believe that they’ve somehow failed their Lord. Thus, they are on constant lookout for others who may be violating their particular perspective on what is proper and what is not. I say shame on such people and “Get out of God’s bedroom.”

Physical expression, however intimate it is, is not inherently sinful. Thus, a kiss born of lust is bad, while a kiss born of the goading of God’s Spirit is good. Limiting physical expression within the Body of Christ is inappropriate when that expression is God trying to love His bride through the members of His body. What the intimacy police in church do, in actuality, is prevent God from being intimate with His bride. Interfering with God and His intended is a core sin of the church and it needs to stop.

Fig leaves are not our friend

Touching someone’s body, when led by the Holy Spirit, is not sin. Being intimate, when God is leading you to do so, is an expression of His will, and thus pure. While wisdom dictates we always be careful in expressing God’s desire to another, it is equally important that we don’t automatically deny His will simply because of fear or legalism.

Sinners will always sin. Why? Because the sin is in them. However, when sin is not present, temptation does not exist. We are all overly concerned with how our actions look and not concerned enough about why God wants to meet the needs of another. We have defined physical love as something so limited and specific that the vast expanse of humanity’s need goes unmet as people are dying of loneliness all around us.

Physical expression of God’s love is what we are created for. Touching and loving each other as God leads is the manifestation of our heavenly Bridegroom. We are the desire of the greater Solomon, the Lover of our souls.

Mankind is still barricaded behind fig leaves. We are still hiding from God in shame. God’s love is meant to be intimate, and if we continue to run away from Him, darkness is our only future.

How will we stop impurity?

How then will we control sexual sin? What if people get close and they have impure thoughts that lead to impure actions? The truth is that regulations against sin do not prevent it, they only prevent the appearance of sin. People, as Christ pointed out, sin all the time in their hearts, and God views adultery in the heart just like the act of adultery. What the church seeks to do is to prevent the possibility of outward actions, thinking that if they do that, they have succeeded in preventing the sin. However, that is not the case at all.

What God is about to do is restore the “first love of Eden.” This is a holy and pure love, motivated and led by His Spirit which seeks not its own, but loves others unselfishly. As we yield to God’s love, we will express the love Paul speaks about in 1 Corrections 13. With purity of heart comes purity of action and, again as Paul says, “to the pure, all things are pure.”

Thus, whatever God leads people to do is pure, holy, and righteous. What if someone says they are being led by God to be intimate with another and it is only a ruse for lust? The answer to this is that each individual must be led individually by the Holy Spirit. If one brother or sister is in error, the other will not feel led to be with them.

We do not do anything that we don’t feel led by His Spirit to do

I remember, during the Tabernacle move of His Spirit, a very pretty young woman came up to me, asking, “Some friends and I are going up to a cabin this weekend to connect, would you like to come?”

I looked at her, surprised, and answered, “Why?” I replied that way because I felt no drawing by the Spirit to go away with her, whatsoever.

Another day, a very lovely married woman came up to me and said she’d like me to stop by at her home during the week. I never did. Why? God’s Spirit was not leading me to do that. It was the Holy Spirit in me that determined whether I would dance, kiss, or do anything else with a spiritual connection, and if that permission of God was not there, I felt no desire to be with anyone.

The types of intimacy that God will show to his Bride through His body are going to be amazing and unprecedented. To natural minded men and women it will be shocking, but to those who hear God’s voice and do His will, it will be nothing short of the spiritual fulfillment of the Song of Solomon. Most of what God does will be simple hugging, sitting close, or kissing. However, as God wills, he will do anything He desires with His bride in the privacy of His bedchamber and it will be His holy right.

The great apostasy is caused by the rejection of God’s love

This, in turn, will cause a separation between the normative church and the true Bride of Christ. Due to the fact that the clergy and a large portion of their congregations mislabel what God is doing as sin, they will seek to cast those out for His name’s sake. This is the travail spoken of in Revelation chapter 12. The great falling away is not a flood of sin that causes people to fall away from the faith, rather the apostasy will be already sin-laden people running away from the light of the Divine Love of God manifest among His people.

Lastly, I think it is a mistake to try to delineate all the different ways God can and will love His people through His people. How God decides to love us is His choice and whatever He does is private. A better course of action is to learn recognize His presence. Whatever is happening, if God is in it, we are for it. If He is not there, then it is not of God. Simple as that.
