Lyrics and Music by Michael King

Verse 1
Bflat F
A man sat down
C
Along a lonely road
F
No laughter in his eyes
C
Only sadness in his soul
Bflat F
For life had dealt him
C
A harsh and cruel blow
F
And what his life was worth
C
This young man did not know
Chorus
C
But God saw a Jester
Bflat
Who would dance a song of love
F
United with the Father
C G
One with God above
C
Of whom the world was not worthy
Bflat
No they would not understand
F
The message of the jester
C
Nor the method of the man
Verse 2
Bflat F
God forgive me
C
And save my weary soul
F
I’ll give my life to you
C
Only please God make me whole
Bflat F
But even if I am to die
C
Just show me what to do
F
Whatever I’ve got left
C
I’ll give it all to you
Chorus
So the man became a Jester
Bflat
And he danced a song of love
F
United with the Father
C G
One with God above
C
Of whom the world was not worthy
Bflat
No they would not understand
F
The message of the jester
C
Nor the method of the man
Verse 3
C
The Jester loved God’s children
Bflat
Whom he found upon the street
F
And loved those in the shadows
C G
And held those he did meet
C
To the wounded and broken hearted
Bflat
To the ones no one would love
F
To the souls of those forgotten
C
He was the hands of God above
Chorus
C
Yes the man was a Jester
Bflat
And he danced a song of love
F
United with the Father
C G
One with God above
C
Of whom the world was not worthy
Bflat
No they did not understand
F
The message of the jester
C
Nor the method of the man
Verse 4
C
Now the days of the Jester
Bflat
Are drawing to a close
F
In some forgotten ward
C G
In a bed that no one knows
C
Bflat
As he draws his dying breath
F
To greet him with open arms
C
And take him to heaven’s rest
Chorus
C
Now the man is God’s Jester
Bflat
Dancing a song of love
F
In heaven with his Father
C G
One with God above
C
Of whom the world was not worthy
Bflat
Will they ever understand?
F
The message of the jester
C
And the method of the man
Verse 5

The message of the Jester

The message of God’s jesters

And the method of the man
You write and sing too? Do you play? If so what? What can’t you do? You are talented in the arts. Thank God for these gifts.
You know, I wondered about that jester hat you wore in your picture. I got a bad vibe from you when I first saw it. I meant to ask you about that bc I always heard the symbolism behind it was shady and when I googled it, well…clears throat.
Dear Ugo,
Actually, that is from a play that we put on a good while back. There were Soldiers, Dancers, and Jesters in the army of God. The Jesters represent saints of God who are Spirit led, but don’t make sense to the natural man. Basically, to me, it means I am willing to be misunderstood and laughed at for Christ.
Big hugs and lots of love,
Michael
The story in the song is lovely and touching. 💕 (tell me to go to sleep! I’ve been on the FF since the dawn. Oh shoot! It’s 11:59pm! The world is supposed to end tomorrow. 😝 Darn YouTube date-setting community 🤦🏽♀️ 7/17/19
Dear Ugo,
Go to sleep love.
Hugs goodnight,
Michael
