No Other Burden

burden

Why Are You Carrying Around The Weight Of The World?

People sometimes carry around a lot of burdens.  We worry about our kids, fret about our marriage, stress about our bills, living about a myriad of other concerns of this life.  In addition, Christians worry about their walk with Jesus, their sin, or if they are doing enough for God and, if that were not enough, about what other people are doing.  All this worry saps our joy and burdens us with the cares of this life.

No other burden

Today, I want to talk with you about having “no other burden.”  Jesus says,

“But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.”

Revelation 2:24

Essentially, Jesus did have some things that he wanted the people of Thyatira to watch out for, but besides that, he did not have any other issues with them. When people are stressed and working to their limit, it is not wise to over burden them.  Jesus knows this and he does not put upon us more than we can bear.

Why worry about what we cannot change?

The truth is, we worry mainly about things we cannot control or change.  Jesus said,

“Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?  And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?  If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?”

Luke 12:24-26

When it comes to spiritual connections, it is especially important to walk in the Spirit. This means that we leave off eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  We forsake earthly reason and instead begin to live solely by heavenly revelation.  We no longer do what seems right in our own eyes, but we believe and live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. When this happens we are freed from the knowledge of good and begin to return to our pre-fallen innocence before God.  As we do this we find that so many areas we thought were forbidden, because the devil tainted them by sin, are now freely accessable to us as the Spirit leads.

We become love as we yield to His Spirit

As a consequence, we begin to love through the Spirit and not through our souls, thus love becomes an expression of His Spirit. Everything we do through His love becomes proper and good.  Taking the corruption out of the equation, we find that the “real” things of God far better the counterfeits of Satan.  The fact is that Agape love encompasses much more than we ever thought possible.  Freedom in the Spirit means we only do what we are lead to do.  Most natural minded people think that being Spirit led is restrictive, but the truth is, it isn’t. The Spirit led life encompasses everything in this life and a great deal more; all with complete freedom.

Depending on the depth of our spiritual connection, there can be a little or a lot of physical expression. To the natural man, who is governed by natural minded thinking, such liberty can is terrifying.  People in the world associate liberty with sin for they assume, given such freedom, they would surely choose to do wrong.  conversely, Spirit led saints associate liberty with holiness and know, given such liberty, they only choose to do God’s will. The startling truth is, Satan’s sin is very restrictive and small while God’s goodness is open and broad.

If God does not say anything, don’t worry about it

God is quite able to tell us when He wants us to do something.  The Holy Spirit is always specific even if we do not know the next step.  Our Father says to us, “Do this, or don’t do this” and doesn’t give nebulous commands we cannot figure out.  Therefore, in the absence of God asking us to do or not do a specific thing, stop worrying.  Individually, God is laying no other burden upon you right now. Live your life, do good, be open to His voice and allow His joy to fill your heart and soul.

God bless,

Michael

Rich Young Ruler, “Are You Ready To Give It All Away?”

Rich Young Ruler

Are you a rich young ruler?

Today, I am looking at the picture on this FB group and thinking about how Christ opened himself to God and to the world and died with His arms opened wide. I find it difficult to look at that picture of my saviors suffering each time I come on this page. However, I know that it was that willingness to be vulnerable enough to die for my sins that makes it possible for me to go to heaven.

Jesus never shied away from saying exactly what God said to say. It did not matter whether or not those around Him understood what he said or if they could, or would, accept it. Christ just reflected God; no more and no less.

Always moving foward

Every time I feel that perhaps there may be a group of people or individuals that can receive the words that God speaks through me, God moves me yet to another truth that seems even more difficult for others to accept. I had one person come apart on me the other day because I wrote that there are “many” raptures. I thought to myself, “Wow, if that offends you just wait until you read some of the other things God has shown me.”

What I think is happening to many who read what I write is that they are like the rich young ruler. In the scriptures the rich young ruler is a young man of great wealth who says this to Jesus,

“What must I do to be saved?’

Jesus said,

“keep the commandments of God.”

Rich young ruler,

“I have kept the commandments of God from my youth.”

Jesus replies

“Sell all that you have, give it to the poor, and come follow me.”

However, rather than doing what God said through Christ the young man went away sorrowful because He would not accept or do the word of God. In other words, he loved what he had more than God manifest in the flesh who stood before him.

Be confident in who you know, not what you know

Many who come to me and thrill at some of the things I write are like this rich young ruler. They are confident in what they have in God but they become offended and go away sorrowful when I say something that is beyond what they are willing to accept. As long as my truth aligns with their truth everything is ok, but when God says something that challenges their very core beliefs they are offended and leave with a heavy heart.

To me, this says that they are trusting in what they believe rather than God Himself. Like the rich young ruler, they are confident in and of themselves and when they are faced with giving away that confidence and actually trusting God, that is just a bridge too far for them.

Nobody has it right yet, so why should mutual error divide us?

Most of what we believe is either partially or wholly in error. We believe and rely upon concepts of men that did not fully understand or know God. None of us have it right. All that we can do is trust God’s voice to lead and guide us into all truth. When we break fellowship because we cannot agree on what to believe, we do the devil’s work for him. We literally work against God by tearing down the temple He is trying to build. Our fellowship is based upon knowing a Person…period. If you cannot manage that truth, then you have not matured in Christ.
