Fulfilling the Scripture: How The Body Of Christ Is God With Us

fulfill

Fulling scripture is not blaspheme

Jesus said,

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

Matthew 5:17

At the time that Jesus was born the religious leaders believed that they understood how their Messiah would come.  Their views, they believed, were based on solid scripture as revealed by God’s prophets.

However, when Jesus did arrive those same religious leaders rejected him.  Why is this so?  Jesus fulfilled all of the scriptures that spoke about him.   Jesus healed the sick and even raised the dead.  Why then, did the Jews miss the time of their visitation?

For a good work we stone thee not

The Jewish religious leaders believed that the teachings of Jesus were contrary to what the law and the prophets taught.  According to their reasoning, Jesus continually violated plain scripture.  In fact, to top it all off Jesus said this,

“ I and my Father are one.”

 John 10:31

What more proof of blaspheme did anyone need?  Taking up stones they were about to kill Jesus when he said,

“Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.  Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?”

John 10:32-34

Jesus pointed out that the scripture itself calls them gods and they were about to stone him for being the son of God.  If saying he was the son of God was that bad then saying that they were gods would have been far worse.

We come to fulfill the scriptures, not to destroy them

The point I want to make today is that the manifested sons of God, us, come not to destroy the scriptures but to fulfill them.  Just as the law and the prophets spoke of Jesus so too the Old and New Testaments speak of us.  However, like the Jews, modern day theologians and their believers will not recognize the day of their visitation because, though we fulfill scripture, we do not align with their doctrine.

In hindsight, it could not have been more obvious that Jesus was the messiah. John the Baptist, the Elijah which was fore to come, announced His arrival.  Jesus performed many notable miracles among the people. He road into Jerusalem exactly as the scriptures foretold their king would come.  Yet for all those signs that He was indeed Emanuel, most of the religious leaders turned upon him and yelled “crucify him!”

The unity of the faith

Likewise, the Holy Spirit reveals the manifested sons of God to the world.  The perfected saints come to fulfill the scriptures.  God says,

“Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:”

Ephesians 4:13

As we walk in the Spirit God will cause us to naturally fulfill the scriptures.  However, the way in which we fulfill them will be contrary to the established doctrine of our day and therefore the religious establishment will reject us.

Coming into alignment with God

Those who are led of the Spirit need to understand that even though we align with scripture we will not align with man’s doctrine.  This is because man’s doctrine does not align with God and not because we are extra biblical.  This cannot be avoided because the entrenched beliefs of most of established Christianity have drifted far from the actual truth of God.  As we come into alignment with what the scriptures actually say, like Jesus, those who count themselves God’s chosen will take up stones against us too.

Therefore, and in conclusion, it makes no difference what those who call themselves leaders of the church think or say.  The manifested sons of God come to fulfill the scriptures and not to destroy them as some will claim. We align with God and that very act necessarily puts us at odds with those who do not.

We must obey God rather than man

Finally, trust God and stand before Him rather than man.  Our allegiance is to the Holy Spirit. Though following God’s leading will put us in opposition to religious people, we must obey God rather than men.

A Man Of Sorrows And Acquainted With Grief

A Solitude of Spirit

The day that Joseph died, Jesus wept. Though the son of God knew who He was. His true Father did not permit him to resurrect his earthly father. The agony of that day is only surpassed by the Garden of Gethsemane.

The sorrows of the Spirit

Being perfectly sensitive to the Spirit exposes you also to all the imperfection of man.  Knowing how wonderful God is and trusting Him implicitly, when those around you dwell in sin, is a special trial of soul and spirit.

Sometimes, obeying God means doing what goes against your heart.  For instance, Jesus had to wait to aid Lazarus, knowing that his friend lay dying.

God says,

“Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.”

John 11:31,32

The desert of this world

Jesus followed the Holy Spirit no matter what anyone else did or said.  Regardless of how difficult it was to see others not realize is available to them, Jesus walked with God.  Christ submitted his whole life to God for one purpose: to manifest his Father’s glory to the world.  In so doing, he died alone, hanging from a cross, in place of each one of us.

In our lives, if  we dare to believe God,we also become men and women of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Following God separates us from men and takes on a path that others cannot or will not follow. Ultimately, We hang alone on our own cross doing the will of our Lord.

No longer of this Earth

As the men and women of God regain perfection the things of this life become strangely dim.  We begin to take no pleasure in the things of the Earth as we see eternity before us. We sacrifice all we know in order to obtain a better resurrection.  People we meet become spirit or they become nothing.  We walk on the high places where one slip means certain disaster.  Yet, because we follow His Spirit our feet become like hinds feet as we walk with assurance. Our sorrows will become joy, for we know we are bound for a new paradise in Him.

Oh, how I long to live in heavenly places.  I cannot wait to be fully united with God and my brethren. Increasingly, this life becomes like fingernails on slate.  Let all those who worship God worship Him in Spirit and in truth so that we can leave this place forever.

My prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, open the heavens to us so that we may become one with You.  Take the fear and pain from our lives so that we may rest with each other in faith, love and harmony.  Help our unbelief so that we can walk with you in the cool of the day once again.  Help us rise up on the wings of eagles to soar with You in heavenly places.

Amen.
