Synchronizing The Body Of Christ
Group worship is a foretaste of the unity of the Spirit. Currently, Christians mostly experience this type of relationship during worship. The exquisite sensitivity of those present testifies to the presence of God among them. However, very soon this type of unity (shared spiritual experience) will manifest in other areas of our lives too.
God fitly joins people together as the Holy Spirit desires; bone to bone, flesh to flesh, becoming one in Him. Harmony stems from knowing God as individuals, which then translates into becoming one as a group. Though natural-minded men try to teach such unity, they can’t. This level of concord between us is only possible through the shared experience of Divine Love.
Wholesome beauty
What I get from the song below is wholesomeness and beauty. It is intensely real, like you can touch it. As people sing “holy” it moves me into a different realm. In the Spirit, you just want to love and be loved and nothing matters except yielding to YHWH. You really want God to feel that He is the one that is holy. You want every glory to be for our Lord so that He knows it is for Him and only for Him.
Not even being there, hearing this song, you start to sway and join in. You feel His Spirit and you want to become one. Likewise, as the Body of Christ moves into the unity of the Spirit, we will start to move as one in other ways too. We will speak with one voice, though our words will be different.
Undoing the curse of Babylon
Speaking in other tongues is the reversal of the curse of Babel. Before God confused their language, the Babylonians were one because they spoke one language. They said let “us build” a tower to heaven. Due to their unity, God saw that nothing would stop them from accomplishing what they purposed to do. However, it was not His will, so God scattered them by dividing their language.
However, in these last days, the Holy Spirit gives us one language again. The sign of being Spirit-filled, which is speaking in other tongues, brings us together. Having one language is prerequisite for unity in God’s people. Now, through the infilling of the Holy Ghost, we speak with one voice again, therefore nothing is impossible for us.
Everyone speaks with one voice again
Whereas God scattered everyone with His Holy Spirit, now everyone is gathered by His Spirit. God says, “come let us reason together”, which implies a two-way conversation. It is this speaking and hearing that allows us to know the will of our Father. As we know Him individually, collective unity naturally follows. Just as those who sing flow together as one, God unites us through the shared experience of Divine Love.
The Holy Spirit synchronizes the Body of Christ. You can’t teach such unity, because harmony results from becoming one with Christ. As that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us, we become like Him. Jesus is one with the Father, therefore, we become one with YHWH. Jesus said, “if you have seen me, you have seen the Father“, meaning there was no difference between Him and YHWH. It will reach a time that we will say “we and the Father are one”.
You can’t teach unity
Unity is an experience, not a teaching. You can’t teach someone to speak in other tongues, God gives the utterance. Likewise, people can’t teach unity for it flows from being grafted into the tree of life, which is Jesus Christ. Therefore, let us allow God to fill us as a people so that our shared experience brings the unity that we all desperately want and need.
God says,
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:”
