More of God

Ask and You Shall Receive

I have been thinking today about the demographics of the Tabernacles movement.   As I was speaking about this to my wife she said, “the people that will want to hear about Tabernacles are just like us: those who want more of God.”  I thank God for my wife because she has a knack for getting to the heart of the matter.

I like this definition of our demographic because it accurately describes the hearts of those who will be open to hear the message of the final feast.  A common thread of my life has always been to want whatever God had to give me.  I started out in a “free will” Baptist church, progressed to a non-denominational church, and finally left organized Christianity altogether because I wanted more of God.

Have you become fed up with church?

I was reading a Gallup poll today and it stated that young people between the ages of 18 – 29 are leaving their churches and becoming unaffiliated with any religion.  Oddly enough, these same people believe in God and right and wrong as much as their parents did but it seems they have just become fed up with church business as usual. To me, this signifies a latent, yet untapped desire to know more of God.  I believe that these disaffected souls are part of the people that want more of God but do not know where or how to find Him.

One good thing about people that “want more of God” is that they are open to do practically anything to get it.  I was always open to change if I felt in my spirit that God had further revelation or experience to give me.  It was always about God to me and not about the form that He chose to come in.  I remember talking with one minister who asked me to become part of his ministry and I said, “if I hear my Father’s voice speaking through you I will gladly participate.  However, if I don’t I won’t care about a word you say.”  Though he did not take that message very well that is exactly what I felt, by the Holy Spirit, to say at that moment.

Want more of God, He will gladly give of Himself to you

In conclusion, I pray that God finds me among those who “want more of God.” I want to fellowship with spiritually minded people who seek God as others seek earthly gold. So many simply accumulate information but stop short of doing anything with what they know. However, I want to be found with the “doers” of the word who seize the day in Him and answer our Father’s call with everything they possess. That, to me, would be very exciting.

Let God’s will be done.

Amen.

And God Spake All these Words…

god spake

It Has Always Been God’s Intent To Speak To His People Personally

Did you know that God spoke the ten commandments Himself to the Children Israel from Mt Horeb before He wrote them down in stone tablets?

God says,

“And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Exodus 20:1-3

But,

“And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.”

Exodus 20:1

God spake directly with His people

Reading chapter 20 of the book of Exodus is quite a revelation. God wanted to speak to His people in person but His people were too afraid to hear His voice. Instead, they begged Moses to go up onto the mount of God and hear His voice for them. That is why Moses received that law written by the finger of God in stone.

Today, so many people are acting like those Israelite’s who drew back in fear at the sound of God’s voice. Like fearful Israel, many want someone else to go up and receive the word of God for them.  Instead of hearing the word of God themselves congregations want ministers to talk with God and then bring back His message to them because they actually fear being around Him themselves.

Revelation depends on proximity

There is a difference between going up on the mountain and drawing away from God in fear.  The difference is that Moses received enough revelation by being in God’s presence to pen the first five books of the scriptures while those at the bottom of the mount only received ten commandments written in stone. It was only later, after Moses wrote down the revelation, that everyone came to know, in written form, what the Law Giver experienced first hand.

I am so utterly weary of people drowning themselves in scripture when the higher way is to hear the word for today directly from their Father. Whatever happened to hearing God for ourselves?  Whatever happened to knowing God through experiencing Him ourselves?  Here is a truth,

“The word was only written down because Israel refused, out of fear, to hear when God spake.”

The Bible was only given to man, because we refused to hear His voice

The Bible, though it be the word of God, is not how YHWH originally intended to communicate with His people. It is a backup, a secondary way, a compromise only given because when God spake, they would not hear His voice.

A child who knows God by experience is better than a Bible scholar who only knows God through study.  A new convert who simply obeys God’s voice is better than a pastor who only obeys to the limit of his understanding.

Each person needs to gather their own manna

Friends, in Christ, it is not what you know but whom you know. God-given revelation is based upon personal experience. When the children of Israel were in the wilderness they had to gather manna daily for themselves in order to live.  It says in the word that “My sheep hear my voice…” Therefore, we all have a personal duty to listen, hear, and to obey on time.  Our responsibility to hear the voice of our Master cannot be “farmed out” to others.

We, as God’s people, need to resist the urge to draw away from His voice.  We can no longer afford to send others to go up and receive God’s revelation for us.  God brings us to a holy place before His mountain.  Let us go up and hear what He has to say with open hearts and minds PERSONALLY.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

Yes, God’s presence makes us tremble, but it is the only way to truly experience the full effect of what He is saying for His word is a living, creative force.  Coming down from the mount, Moses glowed with the light of creation after having seen only the hinder parts of God, while those at the foot of that same mountain, without that light, fell into sin and worshiped a golden calf. That is the difference between being in or away from God’s presence.

God is calling you to come up the mountain because He has much to show you…mysteries of the past as well as glories of the future. Will you dare, like Moses, to believe God and see His hinder parts? Will you resist the urge to cower with the unbelieving majority at the foot of the hill? Will you decide to climb to the high places in Him? The choice is yours.

We are the Rhema of God

God is flooding the Earth with revelation such as mankind hasn’t seen since Pentecost. As the darkness grows His light pierces every delusion that seeks to engulf God’s people.  As God’s Rhema, we become a beacon of hope set on a hill for all the world to see.  Amen.
