Hath God Said?

question

Hath God said?

That is the question isn’t it?

Did God tell us what He really meant or should we question His wisdom and power? “Hath God said” is perhaps the most relevant question that each one of us faces today. How we answer those three words will, to a large extent, literally determine our eternal destiny.

We, as human beings, question everything. It is in our fallen nature to do so. God says this but we say, “are you sure?” We run our Father’s commandments through our heads and check it against our knowledge of good and evil to see whether we “agree” with Him. People tend to question literally everything God says until we have to pry our minds open with faith to accept His will in our lives.

We used to live by revelation

In the beginning it was not so. In the Garden, before the fall, we lived in perfect union and harmony with our Creator. We did not know good or evil but simply trusted in every word that proceeded out of the mouth of our Father. God made us in His image to reflect his nature.

That all stopped when Lucifer said this,

” Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Genesis 3:1

Lucifer “questioned” the most important warning God said and Eve listened.  Do you know that God’s word was never meant to be vetted by us?  In the beginning God spoke and we simply obeyed out of trust and love. There was no disunity, no doubt, no second guessing what our Father told us: it simply was true because He said it.

So many people question God

Today, people all over the world question God all the time saying, in millions of different ways, “hath God said?”  We have taken the freedom and grace that He gave us and turned a perfect world into a morass of dysfunction that reflects the Devils chaos instead of God’s divine order.  Everyday, in many ways, we question God and go our own separate ways instead of His. We, through questioning our Father’s will are committing the same type of rebellion that brought down a 1/3 of the stars of heaven (angels) and we are so blind by that same pride that we see it not.

Here is an eternal truth,

“God gives us no other gospel by which men must be saved.  Jesus is the only way”

God says,

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

Galatians 1:8,9

When we question God

“Hath God said” are just three little words that, when listened to, darken our understanding.  People who refuse to honor the word of God do exactly the same thing Lucifer did when they reject the plain scripture and substitute their version of reality for God’s revealed truth.  I am talking about God’s truth and not man’s dogma here.  I am talking about Spirit given and Spirit led truth and not man’s earthly wisdom. Yes, we have an ocean of truth that we have yet to explore but it will never, ever go against or in anyway diminish the pre-eminence of the Son of the living God, Jesus Christ

There is only one ultimate end for all those who embrace “hath God said.”  The judgement for such pride and arrogance has been and will always be the lake of fire that burns forever and ever.  Those that will not submit to the will of the Spirit of God, as revealed in His scripture and augmented through His Holy Spirit, will not see life but languish eternally far from the presence of Almighty God.

Jesus never questioned God’s voice

Jesus is the exact opposite of “hath God said.”  The son of God lived as the first Adam was meant to: by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of His father in unquestioning obedience.  Christ walked in the Spirit because he always listened to God’s Spirit.  Anyone who does not know this does not understand the things of God.

God is trying to ween us from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil so that He can restore to us the tree of life.  We may choose one or the other but we can’t have both.  Questioning God leads us to the forbidden fruit and certain death.  Believing God simply because He speaks it leads to the tree of life.  God drove those who questioned His will from the Garden of Eden least they partake of the tree of life and live forever in their sin.  Conversely, YHWH physically brings those who believe His word back to the tree of life in New Jerusalem.

God says exactly what He means

Do you know what my answer to the question of “hath God said” is? Yes!, certainly, that is exactly what God said and neither heaven or hell can gainsay or resist it. Please, everyone, stop questioning God.  Stop coming up with your own versions of the truth.  The example Jesus sets for us is the only truth we need to know and understand.  There is and can never be any “further truth” that contradicts the very word of God made flesh.   Amen.

Lean Not On Your Own Understanding

own understanding

God says,

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Proverbs 3:5,6

And,

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

Romans 8:14

There is a great need, in the Body of Christ, to know how to be “led” by God’s Spirit.  In fact, being led the Holy Ghost may literally make the difference between heaven and hell for many in these last days.  In this time of “Strong Delusion”, we must rely upon His Holy Spirit to know the truth.

 God says,

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

Matthew 24:24

The first step in learning to be led by the Spirit is trust.  Trust is the firm belief in the reliability, truth, and ability of someone.  Thus, we must first “trust” God’s voice before we can “hear” God’s voice.

Although God is fully trustworthy, trust in Him must be learned through experience.  In this world, we learn to trust our five senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.   Likewise, we must learn to trust our spiritual senses too.  Don’t be discouraged if it is difficult to switch from the natural to the spirit, it takes time for most people.

God’s understanding is perfect

God is omniscient.  Therefore, God makes decisions based upon perfect understanding. We, on the other hand, make our decisions upon imperfect knowledge.  The truth is, we don’t really know what is going on.  Therefore, when God asks us to do something it often runs contrary to our limited understanding. We see things one way, but God, who knows all, sees things clearly. We must trust the Holy Spirit to be successful believers.  When we do this, we find God is always right, however impossible it may seem.

Another challenge we face is that we constantly try to figure out the “why.  It is the old “hath God said” scenario.  God says to do such and such and we immediately try to fit what He is doing into our limited world view.  We use the knowledge of good and evil to decide whether what God said makes sense. Thus, when God does not do what we assumed, it shakes our faith.

You can’t figure God out, you just have to trust

Trying to figure things out with our natural minds, we often jump to conclusions. God wanted to do nothing like what we wrongly assumed He wanted to accomplish.  Our disappointment arises from our failure to understand God’s motives and methods. Unfortunately, when God doesn’t fit our preconceived notions, we blame Him and lose faith.

Again, this is where “trust” comes into play.  Our trust in God should not be “outcome dependent”.  We are like individual chess pieces on a vast chessboard, moved by His unseen Spirit.  It is impossible to see, from our perspective, why he moves the way He does.

Don’t lean upon your own understanding

On the shores of the Red Sea, five minutes before Moses raised his staff,  everything looked hopeless.  The children of Israel said,

“And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord. And they said unto Moses,  Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?”

Exodus 14:10,11

Moses had, to all appearances, led the children of Israel to disaster.  Yet, what looked one way to the natural man was, in fact, God’s divine plan for total salvation. Likewise, when the Holy Spirit goads us to do something that looks foolish, we must trust His voice.

In conclusion,  trust God and lean not upon our own understanding.  Show confidence in what our Father says because we know who He is.  If we do, what seems impossible will turn out to be no real danger.  Everything we think cannot happen is, in fact, a mirage that simply disappears as we reach it.  God’s word, whether written or revealed by His Spirit is real and is what will never change.
