Peace, Be Still

peace be still

What manner of man is this?

” And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.”

Luke 8:25

I’ve been thinking about this scripture lately.  Well, the truth be told, I have been obsessing over it.  It seems that Jesus, during a storm his disciples believed might kill them, was fast asleep. Waking him, he simply commanded the seas to calm and the very elements obeyed him.  Not only that, but Jesus also chastised his followers for lack of faith!

What mentality did this spring from in Jesus?  Apparently, he thought that the disciples should have taken care of this simply matter themselves.  Morover, Christ acted a bit annoyed that they had even woken him up!

Walking in the Spirit

This signifies to me that Jesus walked in a place that whatever He needed, whatever He wanted, his Father provided.  It was a given and to Jesus, it was inevitable.  Could it be that Christ thought it ridiculous that his disciples even bothered him about the storm?

If this is true, I am walking far below what is actually available in God.  It means that I have the means to master the storms of this life.  I Believe there is a place in God that I can ask for anything.

Nothing is impossible

I began thinking about what it must have been like at other times for Jesus and I remembered this verse,

“Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.  …when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.  And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!”

Matthew 27:18-20

It seems that Jesus walked in a place with God where literally nothing was impossible.  Jesus cursed the fig tree, simply because he felt in his spirit to do so.

Again, Jesus says,

“Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.”

Matthew 17:27

Literally, God gave Jesus whatever he needed, no matter how unlikely it was to happen.

Finally, Christ says,

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.”

Matthew 27:21

Right now there are mountains that I need moved in my life.  I want to believe God and ask for and receive my deliverance. According to what I understand in scripture, none of this has to be this way.  I believe that literally, nothing is impossible if I ask in faith and believe.

Remembering what God has already done

David, when about to fight Goliath, remembered how God had slain the lion and the bear through him and declared that this giant would be no different. Likewise, I remember the things that God has done for me.

David did it and so can I in Jesus name.  Jesus, show me how to have the type of faith you demonstrated all the time.  Show me how to ask my heavenly Father, in your name, for His will to be done in me.

I desire to live by faith in my Lord God

In conclusion, I don’t have to live without the divine provision of God.  No one must be victimized by our circumstances because we serve an all-powerful King who will give us anything we ask for in Jesus name.  It’s time for me to learn this lesson and live it.  I want to triumph and do the things that God puts on my heart no matter how impossible they may seem.  I want to be about my Father’s business. No longer am I going to settle for what seems possible when, with God, nothing is impossible.  It is time to finally become a son of God and follow the pattern that Jesus demonstrated.  I invite all those who seek their deliverance to join me in this quest too.  Amen.

Seeing Past The Storm

Storm

Have You Ever Had One Of Those Days When All Seems Lost?

So many of us are tired and fearful. We have been in a storm for so long we are growing faint. To the natural man, everything looks like doom and gloom. In the midst of the storm, we feel the temptation to resign ourselves to what looks to be “inevitable.”

Paul says,

“And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.  But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.  And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.  For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,  Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.”

Acts 27:20-24

Seeing past the storm

Paul was in a storm for 14 days and there seemed to be little hope of survival.  Yet Paul saw past that storm by faith and believed God for deliverance because His angel said so.  It did not matter that what Paul said seemed impossible, all that mattered is that God said it was.

In our lives, we have storms that we face that seem impossible.  We have been in them so long that we are tired and weary from fighting a seemingly endless fight.  Yet, the voice of God says to you today, “fear not, I Am with you, you shall overcome.”

Be of good cheer!

Finally, I encourage each one of us to “see past” our storm by faith and know that our deliverance draws near.  Stand up, in the midst of certain doom, and declare with a loud voice “be of good cheer!” The worse the circumstance becomes, the louder we will believe God until the impossible becomes not just probable but an absolute certainty!

Amen.
